Bedrooms and a bathroom in the roof, without losing any garden. Surveyed, designed, approved and built by one team.

Many Spitalfields houses have original weavers’ garrets: top-floor rooms with long windows built for silk weaving, rather than empty lofts.
Spitalfields houses often have original weavers’ garrets with long windows. We restore and adapt these rather than convert them, so the top floor becomes usable without losing what makes the house special.
Roof changes to listed houses need listed building consent, and dormers or raised roofs are rarely accepted. Wapping penthouse changes depend on the freeholder and the building’s own rules. Applications go to the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. We handle them for you.

Stair position, rooms, bathroom and storage designed around the roof you have.
Planning or a lawful development certificate, building control, fire safety and party wall notices.
Built and finished by one team, with the house protected throughout.

Often not. Most rear dormer and hip-to-gable conversions are permitted development, up to 40 cubic metres on a terraced house and 50 on a semi-detached or detached house. Conservation areas, flats, listed buildings and mansards need planning permission.

We take a limited number of houses each year. A director reviews every enquiry.
